The Anguilla High Court Criminal Assizes, presided over by Resident Judge, Justice Cheryl Mathurin, commenced on Tuesday this week with several cases on the agenda.
Early in the hearings, Ronnie Richardson pleaded guilty of the theft of US$212,169.64 from Caribbean Juris Chambers, and to three counts of converting criminal property contrary to section 125 sub-section (1c) of the Proceeds of Crime Act.
She was remanded in custody for a social evaluation report and to be taken back to court on November 3 for sentencing.
Javard Clarke and Deren Hodge pleaded guilty of a robbery at West End on January 16, 2012. They were charged with stealing over EC$12,000 and just over US$1,000. They were remanded to prison for sentencing on November 3.
In another case, Juan Evangelista Marie Sabrina pleaded guilty of two counts of handling stolen goods. On one of the counts the value of the stolen goods was just over $7,000. He was returned to custody until sentencing on November 3.
Other cases listed for hearing include Joseph Brice for theft and transferring criminal property; and Jenell Carty for cultivation of a controlled drug; possession of a controlled drug; and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.
