Governor’s Press Conference PROGRAMME FOR ROYAL VISIT TO ANGUILLA

A full programme has been prepared by the Governor’s Office for the one-day Royal Visit toAnguillaby Their Highnesses The Earl and Countess of Wessex (Prince Edward and Princess Sophie) on Monday, March 5.

They are coming toAnguillaas representatives of Her Majesty The Queen on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.

The programme was outlined by His Excellency  The Governor, Alistair Harrison, at a press conference in the Executive Council’s Chambers on Tuesday this week. He was accompanied by Deputy Governor, Stanley Reid, Catherine Firth, Head of the Governor’s Office, and Sam Bethel (a temporary replacement for Peter Roberts who is also assisting with arrangements the Royal Visit).

Governor Harrison told the media representatives that the programme included everything that the Earl of Wessex and his wife, the Countess of Wessex, would be doing during their day inAnguilla.

 

There are two joint events first thing in the morning of Monday, March 5. One is the ceremonial arrival atRoadBay. The other is the official welcoming ceremony at Ronald Webster Park to which all members of the public are invited. This event is being organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Department of Protocol.

 

That will be followed by a special service at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, to which the public is invited. The Royal Visitors will then have separate programmes during the rest of the morning and afternoon. They will attend a formal lunch at Government House where the programme will conclude in the evening with a reception. During that event, His Royal Highness, the Earl of Wessex, will deliver a speech.

0900        Arrive atRoadBayjetty by tender from M/Y Leander.

0920        Depart by motorcade for Ronald Webster Park

(Ceremony opens 08:40 Main Event starts at 09:15 – Their Royal Highnesses (TRH) scheduled to arrive at 09:30).

 

0930        Arrive at Ronald Webster Park for official welcoming ceremony

1020        Leave for St Mary’s Anglican Church.  (Church Service starts at 10:30)

1030        Service to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of HM The Queen.

1115        Depart forHeritageMuseum(HRH The Earl ofWessex) and Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home (HRH The Countess ofWessex)

1125        Arrive at theHeritageCollectionMuseum.

1145                    Depart forIslandHarbour

1150        Arrive atIslandHarbourpier. Unveiling of plaque

1220        DepartIslandHarbourfor Government House

 

PROGRAMME FOR HRH THE COUNTESS OF WESSEX

 

1120        Arrive at the Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home.

1145        Departs Miriam Gumbs Senior Citizens Home

1150        Arrive at The Blossom Centre for disabled children.

1220        Depart for Government House

 

PROGRAMME FOR TRH THE EARL AND COUNTESS OF WESSEX

1230                    TRH Arrive at Government House. Meet guests at drinks in the garden (Other Guests arrive 12 Noon)

1300                    Lunch at Government House.

1400                    Retire at Government House.

1430                    Depart Government House for the golf course, drive by the golf course and, if time permits, drive through the grounds

1450        Arrive atMeadsBay. Meet the crew of a boat and observe two boats engaged in a race at sea

1520                    Depart for Blowing Point Youth Development Centre

1530        Arrive at Blowing Point Youth Development Centre.  (Presentation of Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards by HE The Governor and David Clarke, Regional Director at approx 1510 (tbc))

1610        Depart for theAnguillaTennisAcademy, where he joins Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex

 

PROGRAMME FOR HRH THE COUNTESS OF WESSEX

 

1425        Depart for WISE Centre for Vocational Training

1435        Arrive at WISE. Visit the boat building workshop, garden, English and fashion classes and meets present and past students

1505                    Depart WISE on foot for the Anguilla Red Cross building

1510                    Visit theAnguillaRed Cross

1525                    Depart for Savannah Gallery

1530                    Arrive at Savannah Gallery.

1540                    Depart for Koal Keel

1545        Briefly tour Koal Keel, and meet Soroptimists Club ofAnguilla.

1605        Departs for theAnguillaTennisAcademy, to join His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex

 

 

PROGRAMME FOR TRH THE EARL AND COUNTESS OF WESSEX

 

1615        Arrive at theAnguillaTennisAcademy.

1640        Depart theAnguillaTennisAcademy.

1650        Arrive atRoadBaypier, transfer by tender to M/Y Leander.

 

Retire

1915        Depart M/Y Leander by tender forRoadBayjetty

1920       DepartRoadBayjetty.

1930        Arrive at Government House for a reception (Other Guests arrive at 19:00)

2045    Depart forRoadBayjetty, and onward passage to M/Y Leander.
