Sixteen employees at CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa were presented with awards for outstanding service on Friday, August 22, when the hotel held its Third Quarterly Celebration before closing the 2013/14 season on Monday September 1. The re-opening date is October 18. The event was hosted by General Manager, Mr Stephane Zaharia, and Ms Carleen Gumbs, Human Resources Director.
“It was an okay quarter. We see that since 2009 there has been a really nice growth in business,” Mr Zaharia stated in his opening remarks. “We are looking at the 2014/15 season to be a very nice one. We have some very good group business, which we have worked very hard at to showcase the resort, and I think that things are starting to turn around.”
The General Manager said that among the upcoming events at the resort will be the hosting of the Hospitality World Awards for four nights from October 23; and a culinary event involving a number of celebrity chefs during November 6 -10. He also disclosed that the Christmas bookings were very close to sold out. “Things are therefore very exciting for all of us and, hopefully, there will be no major impact on the economy or geo-political issues that would eventually impact the economy. It is still very fragile, and very much on the borderline, but things are starting to turn around nicely,” he observed.
Mr Zaharia commended the employees selected for awards, the other nominees, and the staff on a whole, for their work – and reminded them of the need to continue to perform well in their interaction with guests.
The award winners for the Third Quarter were as follows:
May: Romella Richardson of Venus Spa; Winston Carter of Landscaping at the Resort; Verna Connor of Food & Beverage at Italia Restaurant, at the Golf Club House; and Alvin Hodge of Golf Turf Maintenance.
