CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa is the first of six recent signatories to the National Wellness Workplace Programme to hold a screening and health fair event as part of its healthcare provision for its staff.
“This is a follow-up to the agreement, through the Ministry of Health, to implement the National Workplace Wellness Programme, and CuisinArt should be commended for being the first to hold the event so soon after signing on.” So said Mrs Maeza Demis-Admas, Coordinator of the Wellness Programme, on Thursday, July 24 during the event.
The Wellness Programme was launched on July 11 at the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Labour Department and the Non-Communicable Disease Commission. While this is the first such screening and health fair held by CuisinArt Resort, under the above agreement, the property conducted its own event last year for its employees.
CuisinArt’s Director of Human Resources, Ms Coleen Gumbs, said the event was intended to ensure that the employees were aware of the various health education issues, including diabetes and high cholesterol, and how to manage their diet.
The screening included blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol tests, dental and foot care checks and breast and prostate examinations. Vouchers were given to employees whose tests were required to be done at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
For the first time, agents of NAGIO Insurance were on hand to address the employees on health and general insurance coverage.
The screening and heath fair was a day-long event with the resort’s employees, health and insurance personnel all actively participating in the various health education exercises.
