In February 2013, Viceroy Anguilla officially launched its Understudy Program with 17 talented colleagues. Robust Individual Development Plans were created for each participant and the 1st year of the programme was dedicated to solidifying the business fundamentals for success. The group completed 3 baseline assessments, quarterly book reports, attended English sessions facilitated by a trainer from the Anguilla Community College, completed targeted online training, participated in Covey training facilitated by the General Manager and some of them participated in Cross Exposure Training at Viceroy properties in the US and the Caribbean. Hue Carty completed 2 weeks at Viceroy Snowmass in Colorado, Peron Sepersaud and Leon Lake trained at Viceroy L’Ermitage in Beverly Hill, Kara Hughes cross trained at Viceroy Sugar Beach in St. Lucia and Marah Gumbs and Tracey Richardson spent 2 weeks at Viceroy Palm Springs. Marah was also part of the taskforce team that opened Viceroy New York and she is currently back there on a month long assignment.

We are extremely pleased with the progress many of our understudies are making. As testament to the early success of the program, 4 Understudies were recently promoted.

Marlon Martin (Culinary) joined Viceroy Anguilla in November, 2009, as a Demi Chef de Partie and has risen through the ranks. In his most recent role as Senior Sous Chef, he worked very closely with George Reid and together, they have established Coba as the premier culinary experience on island. Prior to Viceroy, Marlon worked at Frangipani and Straw Hat. In this new role as Jr. Executive Sous Chef, he will report directly to Chef Rafael. Marlon will have oversight for the various culinary outlets.

Nathalie Lewis (Housekeeping)

Nathalie Lewis (Housekeeping) joined Viceroy Anguilla in August 2009 as a Room Attendant. Her ambition and commitment to personal growth quickly propelled her into a Supervisor role. In 2012, she was selected as one of the Housekeeping Understudies. As part of her development plan, she has crossed trained in a number of other departments such as Front Office, Engineering and Laundry. Nathalie is also bi-lingual as she speaks English and French. Nathalie will now assume the role of Housekeeping Manager.

The Resort is dedicated to the continued development of the human resources on island. We are extremely proud of the recent promotions. We are excited about the future of the property and our colleagues.
