Cedar trees, which are in abundance in Anguilla, are in full bloom across the island with an impressive array of pink and white flowers demanding, as it were, the attention of passers-by.
The beautiful scenes emphasise the presence of what has been named the national tree/national flower of Anguilla, wildly grown and unattended but contributing greatly to the natural beauty and exotic plant life of the island.
Within days, the flowers fall to the ground creating a sweet-scented canopy at the tree trunks in most cases and, eventually, humus – an organic ingredient for plant nourishment and growth.
The cedar trees normally begin to flower in April/May and bloom even better during the early rains as at present.
