Their closest rivals, Purple House, represented by Britney Bellot and Remieko Richards, placed first runners-up, with a total of 435 points. The winners of the pageant were awarded an academic scholarship to pursue an Associates Degree at the Anguilla Community College to the tune of 50% tuition fees for two years. They also received travel vouchers for a weekend prize trip to Puerto Rico (courtesy Anguilla Air Express), along with trophies, sashes and their crowns. While the first runners-up received travel vouchers for a weekend prize trip to St. Eustatius (courtesy Trans Anguilla Ltd.), along with trophies and sashes, the second runners-up received travel vouchers for a weekend prize trip to St. Maarten along with trophies and sashes.
In giving her views on the pageant, Head of Year 5, Ms Michelle Queeley, indicated that it was a tremendous success. She claimed: “I am not merely satisfied because things went well, but more so because the performances were par excellence. From the very onset, we knew that the competition would be tightly contested and the contestants certainly did not disappoint us. In fact, they went far beyond my expectations and they have not only made themselves and their parents proud, but their school at large. They have helped to dispel the negativity that is usually associated with young people and have given youth a fresh image. We have been getting calls from the general public to have a repeat staging of the pageant and this speaks to the high standard that it was.”
Ms Queeley said that she is pleased to pass on the baton to the next year group and anticipates that the drive for the pageant will be just as strong among the general student body. She therefore pledges to give her full support to the Year Head and her students, should they decide to stage the pageant.
She once again expresses her appreciation on behalf of her year group to all who have answered the call for sponsorship and who have assisted in any way, leading to the huge success of the pageant.
