Are you aware that there is power in the way you think? Well, you are what you think. The Bible says it clearly in Proverbs 23:7 – “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” So it is important that we practice to think positive thoughts.
Once we choose to monitor and select our thinking, our life will change drastically. Positive thinking is a mental attitude that allows us to see the bright side of things. If you adopt this mental attitude, you teach your mind to expect success, growth and favourable outcomes at all times.
It does not matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think positively, expect only favourable results and situations, and circumstances will change accordingly. If you persevere, you will transform the way your mind thinks. It might take some time for the changes to take place, but eventually they will.
One of the most important steps we can take toward achieving our greatest potential in life is to learn to monitor our attitude and its impact on everything we do and say, as well as our relationships. Attitude is everything. It governs the way we perceive the world and the way the world perceives us. The most important decision we make in our lives is the attitude we choose to express each day when dealing with people or circumstances. What is your attitude like about your work, your relationships, your family, your children, your spouse/partner, the state of your country or your health?
We all have a choice as to what attitude we develop and portray. We can choose an inner dialogue of self-encouragement and self-motivation, or we can choose one of self-defeat and self-pity. It is a power we all have. Each of us encounters hard times, hurt feelings, heartaches, and physical and emotional pain. The key is to realize that it is not what happens to you that matters; but it is how you choose to respond.
Attitude is the driving force or the determining factor in our lives. It is how you see the things around you, how you deal with the situations you face, and what you think about life. The difference between a positive and negative attitude could be the difference between a positive or negative life. Choosing a positive state of mind will lead to virtually unlimited success in our life. A negative attitude will lead to unhappiness, poor relationships, difficulty at work and, ultimately, poor health.
Having a positive attitude will improve our relationships, make us happier and lead to success. What we need to understand is that everything that happens to us in life is a learning experience. We should view them in a positive light and learn lessons from them. We may have hoped for a different outcome, but face the facts in a positive light and move on.
A positive attitude recognizes the negative aspects of a situation, but chooses to focus instead on the hope and opportunity available within every situation. Positive thinking means that you approach the unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst.
Learn from those negative experiences that come your way by choosing a positive attitude. If the thoughts that run through your head are mostly negative, your outlook on life will be negative. If your thoughts are positive, then your outlook will be positive. Research points out that there are numerous health benefits to be derived from thinking positively. Here are a few of them:
? Increased life span
? Lower rates of depression
? Lower levels of distress
? Greater resistance to the common cold
? Better psychological and physical well-being
? Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
? Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress.
Therefore the decision and choice is yours to take responsibility for your life. People who take responsibility for their situations are positive people who choose to see the world as a good place in spite of life’s circumstances. You are the only one who can control the way you think. Make sure you nourish the positive thoughts, and weed out the negative ones. Choosing your mental attitude is the only thing you can control in your life. So it is up to you to learn and practice a positive mental attitude and enjoy the rewards that are derived thereby.
Remember: The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.
