The Blowing Point Terminal Building has installed a Welcome Desk for both tourists and returning locals who will be welcomed by the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator, Wilma Broaden, upon arrival. The welcoming began last week Wednesday in partnership with Anguilla 44. The desk will work with immigration, customs and taxi service to ensure the best possible satisfaction for the travelers.
Handouts of maps, gourmet guides and brochures will be undertaken to provide a sense of what Anguilla is all about. Ms. Broaden explained: “What we do, and what the business community is doing, is giving out vouchers for the new arrivals and day trippers – and when they open it up a restaurant may give them two drinks for a party of two, some may give lunch for a party of two and it’s free, so that they can get a taste of Anguilla. They don’t know what’s in it until they open it – and they can keep it until they come back or if they’re here for a day trip they can have a taxi driver take them to whatever hotel or bar to get a free drink.”
The local community has spoken highly of the Welcome Desk, and the area in the terminal building will be renovated to accommodate the new customers. Vice President of the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce Carlton Pickering, mentioned,” This is just the first part the program; it is much broader than this. We will also be rolling out the new island image and things like that in the future.”
