Anguilla, July 31, 2013 – The Anguillian Fire & Rescue Service took an afternoon out of their busy schedule last month, to equip 22 Scotiabankers with practical firefighting techniques. The intensive workshop included information on fire prevention, different categories of fires, the correct extinguisher to use for each type of fire, and practical training on how to out fires.
Fire Station Officer (Domestic), Shondell Hodge, was pleased that Scotiabank took the initiative to contact the fire service, advising that Scotiabank was the first financial institution to request fire safety training. He also mentioned that the fire service is currently conducting the same program in schools around the island.
Sheryl MacDonald, Manager Service & Support at Scotiabank, commented: “In preparation for our annual fire drill, we decided to go a step further by undertaking fire safety training, and are very happy with the level of participation amoung our staff for even employees who were on vacation came out for the training. Scotiabank is committed to work with the fire service going forward, to assist them financially with rolling out this program to other institutions in Anguilla.”
