The shooting incident at Blowing Point on Monday night, July 22, in which seven young men were injured, two of them seriously, has caused much consternation in Anguilla and has dampened the spirit of many in the run-up to the Summer Festival.
The senseless and unfortunate attack, which occurred sometime after 9.00 pm, was said to have been carried out by three masked men who opened fire on the group of young men as they stood at the roadside.
The seven young men were admitted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with gunshot wounds to various parts of their bodies. Two of them were sent for further treatment to Puerto Rico the following day. Three were treated and discharged and the other two were detained for further treatment.
The Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to members of the public for any available information about the shooting.
The incident was condemned in the House of Assembly by various speakers during the swearing in of Governor Christina Scott on Tuesday.
