During the visit of the teachers and students of the Learning Unlimited Preparatory School in St. Maarten to the Alwyn Richardson Primary School in April, teachers and students alike were warmly welcomed by the staff and students at the school. The grade five students were touched when theyvisited the DOVE Centre and were inspired to do something to assist with the centre’s needs.
This year, the grade five students of the school in St Maarten held a few fundraisers under the theme “Kids Helping Kids”. They were taught the importance of giving back to the community and helping others, especially other children. When they learned of the DOVE Centre during their camping trip in Anguilla, they were eager to hold some fundraisers to help the children at the DOVE Centre. They sold pops and had different bake sales. From the funds raised, they decided to buy some balls for the children and pieces of equipment for the kitchen, which were part of the DOVE Centre’swish list.
The students of the Learning Unlimited Preparatory are extremely happy to make an off-island donation to the students of the DOVE Centre at AlwynA. Richardson Primary School. They are hereby encouraging persons in the Anguillian community to donate, so as to touch the lives ofour special children.
The DOVE Centre is an initiative undertaken by the Government of Anguilla, under the leadership of the Ministry and Department of Education, to meet the specific and varying needs of children with severe and/or multiple developmental delays. Visits to the Centre and donations of any kind are always welcomed. To make donations, please contact the Principal Mrs. Ornette Edwards Gumbs at 497 7848 or Mrs. Violet Martin at 476 6136.
