Letter to the Editor:
There is a popular quote on many animal rescue sites that says, “Saving one dog won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one dog”. As another graduation at the St James Medical School in Anguilla draws near, the Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation would like to recognize and thank many of the medical students who have come to Anguilla to learn how to help others and in return have given back by helping the homeless animals of Anguilla!
Spearheaded by Rosie Cassidy, an amazing student, with assistance from another student, Renee Harvey, along with Renee’s husband Nick, these two future doctors have worked with other students and encouraged them to assist AARF by transporting puppies on their flights back home to the US and Canada … simply because they care. These students have in addition to transporting, rescued, fostered, adopted and contributed time away from their studies, including Nick’s many hours of volunteer work at the shelter, to help AARF as we struggle to make a difference for the unwanted animals here in Anguilla. Through their cooperation, 22 puppies have gone to forever homes in the US and Canada; with that act of compassion and caring they have indeed “changed the world for that one dog”. To all the medical students that have helped AARF our sincere thanks and gratitude for making a difference here and we wish you much success in the future.
