Construction is steadily advancing at Port Nimara, Anguilla’s first dedicated superyacht marina, with the developer signaling a phase-one completion and marina opening in the first half of 2027. Site works now underway include basin excavation and marine infrastructure manufacturing as the project moves from groundbreaking into full build-out.
The development, situated on the island’s southwest coast between Belmond Cap Juluca and Altamer near Maundays Bay, broke ground in December 2023 and has since entered active construction. The master plan calls for a mixed-use waterfront anchored by a mega-yacht marina and complemented by hotel, residential and retail amenities.
The excavation of the marina basin is in progress, while Swedish marine-engineering firm SF Marina is producing the floating concrete pontoons designed to handle heavy weather and superyacht loads. The marina build is being delivered in collaboration with Consigli Construction, and several local subcontractors.
When phase one opens, Port Nimara is planned to offer 118 berths for yachts up to 240+ feet, alongside an on-site customs and immigration facility. The wider programme envisions a five-star hotel, 18 beachfront villas and 45 hillside residences, positioning the property as both a yachting hub and luxury resort community. The hotel and beachfront villas are slated to follow after the marina’s opening.
Port Nimara is developed by South West Harbour, Inc., a Joint Venture between TEI Inc., SF Investments, the investment and development section of the SF Group in Sweden, with the participation of Anguilla based Antillean Developments. Independent outlets including Marina World, Boat International, Superyacht Times and Megayacht News have prominently echoed the development this year.
The project has been framed as a catalyst for the local economy, with estimates of around 300-500 jobs across marina operations, hospitality and supporting services during the phased opening window. Government and industry communications have tied the marina’s timeline to a broader tourism uplift and skills demand on island.
Strategically, Port Nimara sits about 26 nautical miles from St. Barths and 11 nautical miles from St. Maarten’s international airport, strengthening Anguilla’s role on the NE Caribbean superyacht circuit and providing quick access for owners and charter guests transiting the tri-island loop.
David Mizrahi, partner of South West Harbour and executive head of Port Nimara, emphasizes on resilient marine engineering and a “sustainable luxury” brief as dredging and civil works reshape the basin. Trade releases cite heavy-duty pontoons and coastal-conditions design as central to the marina’s operating profile once open.
As works continue through 2025/2026, the soft-opening period will lead into the phase-one handover in 2027, subject to construction progress and permitting.
