The Hon. Minister of Education, Mrs. Shellya Rogers-Webster, is reporting that construction of the TVET (Technical Block) facility at Campus Q is progressing very well.
On 15 July 2025, the Government of Anguilla officially broke ground at Campus Q of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School for the long-awaited TVET project.
On Monday, September 8th a significant milestone was marked with the successful first pour – that of the cistern slab. In the weeks ahead, construction teams will continue with the pouring of the footings, setting the foundation for the structure to steadily rise. Work on the project is being carried out by local construction company, Synergy Consultancy.
Speaking on site during the Monday pouring, the General Contractor and Principal of Synergy Consultancy, Mr. Jerome Richardson, said: “Once the cistern floor is poured, the cistern walls will be poured next. The foundation footings will then be laid down for the agriculture block, followed progressively by the footings for the technical block.”

“The work is going very well,” he said, “and we are on schedule. So we are looking forward to delivering this project on time.” During the groundbreaking ceremony in July, Mr. Richardson had forecasted that the project would be completed within 13 months after work begins. That would mean that by October 2026 the facility should be handed over.
On Wednesday, September 10th The Anguillian took a tour of the project and spoke to the Project Manager, Mr. Wayne Latang. He confirmed that the cistern’s floor has been poured, and preparations are being made to eventually pour the cistern walls.
He pointed out that steel “mattings” were being prepared for the footings upon which the 24,000 square-foot structure will rest. “However, before we pour the footings,” he insisted, “we must first thoroughly spray the ground with a high grade insecticide to eliminate the potential for termites.”
Mr. Latang noted that the molds for the footings are steel plate forms which are more convenient to work with rather than wooden forms. He did confirm that the project will be completed by the prescribed time-span of 13 months.
The EC 17 million-dollar investment will deliver modern facilities for educating students in agricultural science, construction trades, metalwork, woodwork, auto-mechanics, and a new Teachers’ Centre. This facility will be the hub for equipping Anguilla’s young people with hands-on skills for the future.
A message from the Ministry of Education says: “The Government remains committed to advancing education, skills training, and workforce development, ensuring that Anguilla’s students are prepared for tomorrow’s opportunities.”
