The future walked across the stage in white and blue this week, and it was nothing short of inspiring.
Orealia Kelly Primary School’s (OKPS) Graduation Ceremony was held on Tuesday, 1st July 2025, at the Mount Fortune Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and it was a celebration soaked in pride, legacy, and a little bit of that “Panther magic” expected from the OKPS family. With this year’s theme, “Achieving a Million Dreams, Step by Step. #DREAMBIG!”, the ceremony was more than a farewell – it was a launchpad.
Acting Principal, Tr. Shirlene Hodge, welcomed the audience with warmth, conviction, and a touch of divine inspiration. “Today, we gather not just to mark an ending, but to celebrate a new beginning,” she said. “The launch of 49 bright, bold, and beautiful journeys toward a million dreams.” She reminded the audience that dreams aren’t achieved in giant leaps but in steady, faithful steps, “one study session, one act of kindness, one decision to believe in yourself even when it’s hard.”
Quoting scriptures from Jeremiah 29:11 and Proverbs 16:3, Tr. Hodge gave the graduates both spiritual grounding and a resounding message of empowerment. “Your dreams are valid. Your goals are possible. And when you walk with purpose step by step, trusting God along the way, there is no limit to what He can do through you.”
Keynote speaker, former OKPS alum and walking motivation machine, Mr. Rashaad Saunders humorously pointed how much time had passed since he graduated – 19 years to be exact.
“I’m officially feeling ancient. Like flip phone ancient.”
But, Mr. Saunders wasn’t just hilarious – he was profound. With wit and nostalgia, he took the graduating class through a journey of what’s changed and what hasn’t: the power of a dream and the greatness that begins within the walls of OKPS.
“This is not just any primary school,” he reminded them. “This is legacy. This is excellence. This is you.”
He challenged students to step bravely into their next chapter: “You are a product of the Orealia Kelly Primary. You came from a school of greatness. A school that builds champions in the classroom and out in the world.” Quoting Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – he ended on a high note, calling on graduates to be brave, kind, curious, and resilient. “It’s giving future world changer energy. It’s giving Anguilla’s next star. It’s giving legends in the making.”
Then came the moment every parent, friend, and teacher had waited for – students receiving their certificates and special awards. There were cheers, claps, and a few happy tears as students were recognised for academic excellence, sportsmanship, leadership, innovation, and all the beautiful brilliance they bring to the table. It wasn’t just about grades, it was about growth, grit, and heart.

Valedictorian Ms. Genesis Harrigan took the mic and delivered a speech that made everyone smile from the inside out. A student described as quietly powerful and determined, Genesis showed just how much strength can live in stillness.
“When we first walked through the gates of OKPS, holding our parents’ hands, graduating was just a dream. Now our first day is just a memory,” she said with poise. Her speech was a heartfelt rollercoaster through seven years of shared moments – from kindergarten antics to COVID-era challenges and triumphs like the Kidpreneur Fair and Anguilla Day quiz victories.
Repeating Nelson Mandela’s famous words, “It always seems impossible until it’s done”, Genesis had the crowd nodding along and dreaming bigger. “With God’s help, respectful attitudes, and positive mindsets, the possibilities are endless,” she said. Her delivery was a reminder that leadership doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.
The graduating class then performed P!nk’s “A Million Dreams” in unison, their young voices echoing the ceremony’s core message: the future is theirs to shape.

Salutatorian, Mr. Jhaiden Jennings also extended heartfelt appreciation to the teachers, staff, guest speaker, sponsors, and everyone who helped shape the day and the journey leading up to it.
“As we take our final bow as students of Orealia Kelly Primary School, we do so with full hearts and deep gratitude,” he said, speaking on behalf of his fellow graduates.
Finally, with tassels turned, the 49 graduates of the Class of 2025 were officially presented to the world. They didn’t just walk out – they sashayed into their future with heads held high, dreams blooming on the inside, and an island cheering them on.
As they step forward—step by step—toward those million dreams, one thing is clear: the future is in brilliant, determined, capable hands.
