On January 20th the Anguilla Rainbow Rockets track.and field club celebrated its 5 annual awards Gala on the Theme ” Legacy”.
This year attendants of the event dress in blue as they looked to honour Athletes that paved the way in Athletics in Anguilla that were often unheard of.
This year nominees were the MV Deluxe Ferry which was a long time sponsor of the Club. Mr Kirthy Richardson and Ms Ramona Brooks both sprinters and former National Champions of Anguilla who in their younger years set many national records while representing Anguilla on a region stage.
The night was also a celebration of the clubs’ 57 athletes .Their performances were mentioned as each were awarded with a for their 2023 acolades. The club saw much successes in Locally, wining the local track meets such as the President Classic, the Brown Bucket Classic and the Starters Invitational. The athletes all shun and the local sports days and regionally in such games as the Carifta Games in Bahamas, the Nacac age group championship in Santo Domingo, the Culturma Games in Nevis , The Commonwealth Games in Trinidad and also in countries such as Antigua, Puerto Rico, the US and the UK.
With many broken records and medals one the club would like to thank all the kids for their hard work and persevaerance showed in 2023.
We would Iike to thanks the Honarable Minster with responsiblity for Sports Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers for presenting the awards. And special thanks to the all the Coaches ,Parents and Supporters who contributed to make the Gala a success and also well wishers for the support last season and we look forward to awesome 2024.
