The Anguilla Football Association (AFA) takes a significant leap into the digital era as Germain Hughes (MA Systems Manager) and General Secretary Jameel Rochester recently attended a FIFA Connect Programme Capacity Development Workshop in Miami, USA.
The workshop aimed to equip Member Associations with the necessary skills in electronic registration (FIFA Connect), competition management (FIFA Competition Management System), and the FIFA Transfer Matching System (FIFA TMS).
The FIFA Transfer Matching System is a cutting-edge platform designed to oversee the transfer process of both professional and amateur players. It enhances transparency, prevents irregularities, and establishes a secure and standardized system for clubs, players, and football associations involved in international transfers.
The FIFA Connect programme empowers Member Associations to systematically register all stakeholders and monitor the whereabouts of players, coaches, and referees globally. This program assigns a unique FIFA ID code to each individual involved in the football organization, acting as a digital passport with a comprehensive history of each stakeholder.
The FIFA Competition Management System (FCMS) enables Member Associations to digitally organize, run, and manage their competitions seamlessly. The functionalities of the FCMS include managing teams, setting up competitions, creating and managing schedules, generating match fixtures, assigning match officials, capturing match results, and providing live match reports and statistics on a dedicated website.
Germain Hughes has been entrusted with the responsibility of training and implementing these programs to various stakeholders. Within a short timeframe, he successfully introduced the FIFA Competition Management System for the upcoming AFL Season 2024.
Several training sessions were conducted with local match commissioners, referee managers, referees, referee assessors, club administrators, and regional competition managers. All team sheets, referee reports, match commissioner reports, and referee assessor reports are now created online via the FCMS platform, making match data accessible on the AFA website.
Moreover, local/domestic transfers are now seamlessly conducted online through FIFA Connect. Matchday stakeholders are equipped with electronic devices to enter data before, during, and after games, ensuring real-time and efficient management of match-related information.
The Anguilla Football Association is proud to take these significant steps towards modernizing the organization and management of the game. Embracing digital tools enhances efficiency, transparency, and overall governance within the football community.
