UWI GLOBAL CAMPUS ANGUILLA CLASS OF 2023 CELEBRATED AT LOCAL RECOGNITION OF GRADUATES CEREMONY

Class of 2023

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus, Anguilla hosted a special Recognition of Graduates Ceremony to celebrate its thirty-five (35) graduates of the Class of 2023. The ceremony was held on December 7, 2023 at the Mount Fortune Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Sandy Hill. Further to the Global Campus Graduation held in November 2023, the local Recognition of Graduates Ceremony is meant to offers graduates a public opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments with their family, friends and supportive community.

This year’s programme was chaired by Ms. René Henry of The UWI Global Campus, Anguilla, and featured various speakers who delivered congratulatory remarks on behalf of their respective offices. These included Director of The UWI Global Campus Dr. Cheryl McDonald-Sloley, Honourable Deputy Governor, Mr. Perin Bradley and Honourable Minister of Social Development and Education Ms. Dee-Ann Kentish-Rogers. Special mention and thanks were expressed to Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks, immediate past Manager of the British Overseas Territories. Dr. Fleming-Banks initiated the first local ceremony in 2015 and was also very influential in the overall advancement of The UWI on Anguilla.

The programme also saw participation from distinguished Alumni-Chancellor’s Representative on the Campus Council Mr. Stanley Reid, Vice-President of Alumni Association Anguilla Chapter, Dr. Maglan Lewis and First Doctoral Graduate UWI Global Campus Anguilla Dr. Michelle Queeley.

Twenty-six (26) of the new graduates completed undergraduate degrees and nine (9) completed postgraduate degrees. Ms. Keneka Bailey delivered the graduate response which highlighted the triumphs and dedication of the cohort throughout their studies with a personal touch.

A special presentation was made to the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACOCI) and received by Supporting Director Mr. Donald Curtis. 2019 saw the inaugural recipient of the ACOCI/UWI Anguilla Scholarship. The first recipient, Ms. Hakeera Brooks, successfully completed her Bachelor of Science Accounting and is also celebrated with the Class of 2023.

Ms. Sherri-Ann Roberts in her expressions of gratitude, extended warm appreciation to everyone that shared and participated in and contributed to the ceremony.

The UWI Global Campus continues to play a vital role in nation building by offering diverse programmes. The current application period is open until December 17, 2023.
