On Friday, November 10th, DIGICEL called a special press briefing to announce its wide array of gifts and prizes for its customers during the 2023 Christmas Season. This year’s Christmas giveaways come with a total value of just under EC$100,000 and the promotions carry the theme: “The Grinch Takes Santa’s Sleigh”.

DIGICEL’s Marketing Executive, Ms. Alvanique Frank, described what the telecom company has in store for its customers: “Whether you are nice or naughty this year you will get something from Santa’s sleigh,” she said. “Every day throughout this season, from today down to January 27th, our customers will be able to win gift cards from Amazon, Shein, and KFC. Customers can win gas vouchers, electronics and telecom prizes as well.”

She said the big feature this year is that DIGICEL is allowing its customers to enter a drawing to win a seven-day European cruise for two, noting that it is an all-inclusive trip with all airfares and hotel accommodation paid for. The opportunity to enter the drawing for this European cruise can be realized when persons pay up their bill in full and on time.
Head of DIGICEL-Plus, Ms. Nadika Rawlins explained what DIGICEL-Plus is about: “We have listened to our customers. By signing up for DIGICEL-Plus, it not only brings the magic of Christmas to your living room, but it brings the enchantment of improved entertainment. Customers who sign up for DIGICEL-Plus can get two months free of Disney-Plus movies like Marvel, the Star Wars series, and more. When you sign up for DIGICEL-Plus, you can experience Disney-Plus from any device from the comfort of your home. Customers who sign up for DIGICEL-Plus for Christmas will receive a 50% discount on their third, sixth and ninth month going forward.”
“Subscribe to DIGICEL-Plus today,” Ms. Rawlins invited, “and let us be your partner in making this Christmas unforgettable. From the wonders of Disney-Plus to exclusive offers and exciting surprises, DIGICEL-Plus is here to light your festive season.”
Head of Consumer Sales & Digital Services, Keithroy Proctor hinted: “For Christmas this year we have made new additions to our Prime Bundles for our prepaid customers. We have given you more data. So from today until January 27th customers who activate a Prime Ultra Bundle will be getting 4 times the data.”
He said that DIGICEL realizes that its customers are hooked on texting, “so we have included free social texting now, and this is unlimited messaging (and) it is noticed that customers love to watch movies on Netflix, so DIGICEL has dropped in additional data for Netflix in its Prime Ultra Bundle.”
“For our postpaid customers,” Mr. Proctor said, “by paying EC$159 per month, they can get unlimited social messaging as well, along with scrolling, watching stories, creating their own videos, creating Tic-toc videos, You-tube videos, and watching movies on Netflix. In addition, when they pay their bills in full and on time they can enter the drawing to win the cruise.”

New customers who want to sign up with DIGICEL as their telecom services provider will get a CoolPad CP3 handset when they pay EC$100. “This is an ideal phone for children,” Proctor said. “So if you are looking to get your child a smart phone this Christmas, this one is for you.” He added that the CP3 comes with a 5-day plan which includes extra data to support the playing of games like Roblox and Minecraft.

Mr. Proctor also mentioned another CoolPad, the CP5, that has recently come on stream. Customers can receive the CP5 when they sign up for a fee of EC$199. “This one is suitable for young adults,” he said. “It is similar to the Samsung with dual SIM and excellent cameras for taking ultra sharp pictures.” He noted that this one comes with a 30-day Prime Ultra Bundle.
Mr. Proctor then spoke about the prize pool. “The idea for the prize pool is that when you bring in your child for the CP3, he or she can jump into the prize pool and grab a ball. “Each ball contains a prize,” he said, “so we have lots of prizes in the pool to share. These include Christmas ham or turkey, Shein and Amazon vouchers, gasoline vouchers, cash, and much more.”

In addition to all these in-house gifts and prizes, Mr. Proctor said that DIGICEL has partnered with Liberty Corporate Credit Union for a special promotion. “Our customers would come in and see our iPhone 15 and our Samsung S23 and they would want to get one of them. So, our partnership with Liberty will allow the customer to obtain any of these phones with 100% financing. All this is done through the Liberty Credit Union”, he said. “All our customers need to do it to speak with any of our agents here and they will be guided through the process.”

“We have gone out of the way to please our loyal customers again this year,” Mr. Proctor said proudly. “We want our customers to stay with us, as well as we are encouraging new customers to join our network.”
