On Tuesday 17 October, we lost a much-loved member of our Belmond family, Celia Geyer, SVP of Design and Project Development who sadly died alongside her husband David while on honeymoon in Uganda.
Celia was a remarkable woman, a kind leader and a true pioneer who, in countless ways, helped shape our brand and the hospitality design community.
She will always be remembered not only as a hugely talented and creative designer with a real passion for craftmanship, but also as a genuine and much-loved and respected colleague, leader and friend.
A true pioneer, a remarkable woman, and a beautiful soul that left us far too soon. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In Anguilla, Celia’s knack for people became discernible immediately, beyond her professional scope.
When Celia joined Belmond, the reconstruction of Cap Juluca post Hurricane Irma, became her first assignment. While living on the island she fostered strong relationships and friendships not just professionally but within the local community, in particular, with a group of early-morning cyclists which she continuously nurtured with every visit.
We are all very fortunate to have known her talent and light at Cap Juluca and within the Anguillan community.
