Social Security Staff in Training Session

The Anguilla Social Security Board (SSB) is delighted to announce Social Security Week (SSW) 2023, taking place from October 29th to November 4th. This annual event holds special significance as November 3rd marks the 43rd anniversary of the passage of the Social Security Act into Law. This year, we celebrate under the theme “Embracing Digital Solutions for Inclusive Social Security.”

The theme for SSW 2023 embodies our unwavering commitment to harness the power of digital technology to extend the reach of social security services across Anguilla. This is a pivotal moment for us, marked by the introduction of our new digital platform and the extension of coverage to the informal economy. It is a testament to the SSB’s dedication to providing accessible and inclusive social security services, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and, in particular, SDG 1, which underscores the significance of social protection systems.
The rationale behind out theme is crystal clear. The new digital platform – the Mulit-Benefit Solutions (MBS) – will usher in a new era of efficiency, accessibility, and convenience for both the formal and informal economy workers. Extending coverage to the informal economy is an important step towards reducing poverty, inequality, and vulnerability in our community, mirroring the goals set by SDG1.

“Embracing Digital Solutions for Inclusive Social Security” showcases the transformative power of technology in bridging the gap between those who provide services and those who need them. It underscores our commitment to adapt to the evolving landscape and embrace digital innovations to foster greater inclusivity in social security coverage.
SSW 2023 is a testament to the SSB’s dedication to leveraging technology to serve the people of Anguilla better. The week’s activities revolve around the rollout of Phase 3 of the MBS online platform, allowing for online filing of benefit claims. It kicked off with a church service at Outreach Baptist Church on October 29th and features an array of events, including a Radio Address by the Hon. Premier and Minister of Social Security, Dr. Ellis Lorenzo Webster, the launch of a public awareness campaign, online demos, staff training, workshops, focus group discussions, registration drives, radio quiz, and a fun-filled Zumba and Stretching fitness session followed by breakfast on November 4th.
The SSB invites all residents to join us in celebrating SSW 2023. Let’s embrace the future of inclusive social security together and ensure that social security is accessible to all segments of society in Anguilla.
