The Ministry of Tourism Unit is excited to announce significant progress toward the much-anticipated reopening of the Wallblake House, an iconic cultural heritage site located in The Valley, Anguilla. With a rich history dating back to 1984, the Wallblake House is poised to become a premier cultural attraction on the island and in the region.
Key achievements in the process of reopening the Wallblake House include:

? Specialized training for industry partners, focusing on the Wallblake House and other historical sites
? Comprehensive inventory assessment of the valuable items housed within the Wallblake House
? Ongoing minor repairs and exterior restoration work
? Care and maintenance of the surrounding grounds
? Exciting plans for an Art and Craft Section and an Eatery
On Friday, September 29th, 2023, a dedicated group of volunteers, led by Tourism Planner Mrs. Joleyne Robin-Williams, took part in a crucial inventory assessment at the Wallblake House. These volunteers represented the Roman Catholic Church, the Department of Education, Anguilla Historical and Archaeological Society, and Quest Experiences.

The reopening of the Wallblake House aligns seamlessly with the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan for Anguilla and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development SDG target 8.9. This objective is aimed at “devising and implementing policies to promote sustainable tourism that creates jobs and promotes local culture and products.” Furthermore, the significance of sustainable tourism is underscored in SDG target 12, which emphasizes “ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns” as pivotal elements in sustaining the livelihoods of current and future generations.
