Freshers Week On-Site Student Support

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus Anguilla welcomed its latest cohort of online students with a special orientation/welcome session on August 24, 2023. The new students were welcomed by the local Staff, as well as Executive Members of the Anguilla Chapter of The UWI Global Campus Guild of Students. This session formed part of a number of online and face-to-face activities geared towards preparing online students for their new academic journey.

Staff members Ms. René Henry and Ms. Arlene Browne-Richardson welcomed students and applauded them for making The UWI their choice for tertiary studies, as The UWI continues to rank in the top 1.5 % of universities in the world. During the session, the students also received an outline for registration, support services and other processes. Also making presentations were Executive Members of the Anguilla Guild of Students chaired by Ms. Marva Smith. Students were informed on the role of the Guild, upcoming activities, and the importance of student collaboration and networking throughout the local campus and across the region.

In addition to the orientation/welcome session, new and continuing students benefited from a number of other preparatory activities. On Sunday August 27, staff and students participated in the annual “Back to School” Church Service at the Church of God Holiness. The Guild of Students Executive Members facilitated On-Site Student Support sessions on August 29. An Academic Integrity Course is slated for August 31 and The UWI Global Campus 2023 Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony will take place on September 6, 2023.

The new students will officially begin their classes in a number of degree programmes including Management Studies, Education, Social Work, Human Resource Management and Accounting on September 4, 2023.
A number of new applicants are taking advantage of The UWI Global Campus Special Admission programme which allows them to undertake selected online courses within degree programmes. With varying options to meet academic goals, The UWI Open Campus recently transitioned to a Global Campus and remains a flexible pathway to achieving tertiary level qualifications. With undergraduate degrees costing less than US$13,000.00 and postgraduate degrees less than US$9,000.00 the Campus remains an affordable and convenient option.
The UWI Global Campus Anguilla will begin classes for its Semester One local Continuing and Professional Education Programme during the week of October 2, 2023. These special courses like Supervisory Management, Customer Care, and Counselling are designed for workplace/skills development.
