The UWI Global Campus Anguilla Guild of Students concluded its academic year on a high note with a vibrant and engaging end-of-year social event held at Vanburn’s Residence in Sandy Hill. The event, which took place on July 21st, provided a much-needed opportunity for students to unwind and socialise after a demanding and eventful school year.

This year’s end-of-year social was marked by a unique twist as the Guild of Students extended invitations to three distinguished Alumni who had experienced the diverse landed campuses of the University of the West Indies – Cave Hill, Mona, and St. Augustine. The esteemed presenters, Ms. Donna Banks, Mrs. Josephine Gumbs-Connor, and Mr. Lowell Hughes, each shared insightful anecdotes and invaluable experiences from their time at these campuses.

The session was nothing short of enlightening as the alumni offered first-hand accounts of their educational journeys, shedding light on the enriching academic environments and vibrant campus cultures of the various UWI campuses. Students had the invaluable opportunity to engage directly with the presenters, gaining invaluable insights into the unique aspects and benefits of each campus.

Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks – the outgoing Manager of The UWI Global Campus British Overseas Territories, graced the event with her presence, further emphasizing the significance of the occasion. The UWI Global Campus – Anguilla site Administration Staff also attended, reaffirming their commitment to supporting and fostering a nurturing educational environment for the students.

Reflecting on the event, the UWI Global Campus Guild Anguilla Chapter Chair and Regional Guild Games Committee Chair, Ms. Marva Smith, expressed, “The end-of-year social was an enriching experience for all of us. Hearing the personal stories and triumphs of our Alumni has inspired us and given us a glimpse into the incredible opportunities that await us as UWI students. We are immensely grateful to our esteemed Presenters, Alumni, Student Body and the UWI Global Campus Anguilla Administrative Staff for making this event a remarkable success.”

The UWI Global Campus Anguilla Guild of Students extends its gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the success of the end-of-year social. Special Thanks are also extended to UWI Anguilla Administrative Staff, Presenters Ms. Donna Banks, Mrs. Josephine Gumbs-Connor, and Mr. Lowell Hughes, Milestone Events, Pink Mako Ltd, and Remah’s Delights Catering and Private Chef Services. The UWI Global Campus Anguilla Guild wishes to extend apologies to anyone whose names may have been inadvertently omitted and conveys sincere appreciation for all contributions to this initiative.
