NYPD HOLD FINAL DEBATE OF THE 2022-2023 ACADEMIC YEAR

NYPD Debaters with ALHCS Principal, Mrs. Rita C. Carty (far right)

The Teachers Resource Centre (TRC) was alive and buzzing as the curtains came down on the NYPD Debate Finals.

On Saturday 1st of July in an absorbing and entertaining finals, Shaleah Paul and Tamiyah Brooks narrowly squeezed past Senaiyah Richardson and Kishanece Edwards to win the 2023 NYPD Debating Competition.

Nikaima Medina and Aaliyah Webster captured 3rd place. Aaliyah also was named most improved debater, while Tsehai Carty was named Best New Debater. Shaleah Paul was awarded Best Speaker year one and Best Overall Speaker and Best Speaker year two went to Kishanece Edwards. Kishanece also received the 2023 Best Speaker of the NYPD Finals.

In the Impromptu Speech contest, Michaela Connor placed 5th, Delicia Harrigan placed 4th, while Aaliyah Webster and Timothy Monsanto placed 3rd and 2nd respectively. The 2023 NYPD Impromptu Winner was Barry Telemaque.
