Pixels (Ages 5-6)

The Children’s Library Annual Summer Programme (CLASP) closed on Friday, 14th July, 2023 with an exhibition and afternoon of games after two fun-filled weeks of activities. Under the theme “Game On!” programme participants were exposed to various forms of games such as online games, traditional games, and learnt how to create and make their own games and toys.

Bots (Ages 7-9)

Sixty-one (61) participants between the ages of five and twelve attended the programme whereby they were separated by age into three groups; Pixels aged 5-6, Bots aged 7-9 and Minecrafters aged 10-12. Each group was led by members of staff along with volunteers. The children enjoyed the programme and made lots of crafts including rollers and kites.
During the two weeks the children were treated to visits from Miss Ciara Banks who taught them about coding and coding for games, Mr. Hulia (Ponto) Carty who helped with making rollers, Mrs. Hyacinth Hughes who spoke about her life growing up and the traditional games played, Mr. Brandon Bradshaw who helped with making kites and Miss Janique Fleming who provided video games. They also enjoyed a beach day at Shoal Bay with lunch provided from Elodias Restaurant and a games day at James Ronald Webster Park.

Minecrafters (Ages 10-12)

At the closing, parents were invited to attend the exhibition of all the art and craft projects completed over the two-week period and then an afternoon of games with johnny cakes baked in the drum and music provided by DJ Legend.
