The Honourable Premier and Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Ellis Webster, says Developers are confident about investing money in Anguilla.
Premier Webster told Radio Anguilla’s talk show Talk Anguilla Rebranded with Keith “Stone” Greaves, that developers from overseas are comfortable about investing in projects on Anguilla.
He said there were several projects now under development and some that would undergo prospective development in the not too distant future due to developers’ interests.
“There are infrastructural projects as well as hospitality projects that we have been approached about,” he said. “There is the Ani Private Resort in Shoal Bay, and in Long Bay there is land which an investor is interested in developing into luxury villas.”
In addition, the Premier indicated that more medical facilities are in the pipeline. “Recently a principal of one such medical school – which has a branch in St. Kitts – was on … island holding discussions about developing a similar school here,” he said. “Also, there is a medical school in Massachusetts that has [an] interest in setting up a branch here.”
He also mentioned that there is a medical institute in Europe which is attracted to the idea of opening a campus in Anguilla.
“So I think there is much confidence that investors are having in the island. There is a lot of interest for them to come to Anguilla and set up business here,” he declared.
The Premier also noted that a number of existing entities are looking to expand including the Aurora Anguilla Resort and the Dart Group at Four Seasons.
“The timing and atmosphere is right,” the Premier stated, “and investor confidence is very high in Anguilla.”
Recently, when asked in a Government Press Conference if he would accommodate other medical institutions on the island in addition to the two that already exists, the Premier said, “Certainly, we look forward to accommodating more students in Anguilla.”
“I think that any study you do would show that Anguilla can easily handle another ten thousand people. The med schools and any universities would provide us with students who would buy here, eat here and rent here, and this would be essential for the expansion of the economy,” the Premier noted.
He said due to the fact that Anguilla has been stable and continues to be stable, the outside investor community looks at Anguilla very favourably.
