Mr. Curtis Richardson has made his intentions known by ‘throwing his hat in the ring’ for the 2025 national elections.
He had announced his plans to create a new political party during a radio conversation with Keith “Stone” Greaves in October 2022, and said that he would have been introducing his team of candidates in early 2023.
However, in speaking to Radio Anguilla’s Felicia Hennis on Wednesday 21st June, 2023, Mr. Richardson admitted that he had encountered some organizational challenges due to the fact that some of his potential candidates were dealing with personal issues, which inhibited the formation of the party.
In any case, Mr. Richardson said he intends to run a full slate of what would be – as of now – Anguilla’s third political party, apart from the Anguilla United Front and the incumbent Anguilla Progressive Movement, to contest the next general elections.
“Today, I am advising the nation that I along with other fellow citizens have embarked upon the formation of a team that can deliver to us the hopes and dreams that we crave in our nation,” Mr. Richardson declared on Wednesday. “I still believe that Anguillians are a great people who deserve the best that life has to offer.”
“I still believe that despite the odds and crises in the world there is something that we can do to realise our desired haven,” he said. “Today, in this moment, I implore every soul living within, as well as without this nation, whose common history and love for this nation unites us, to dream again and to believe once more with me in who we are, and in what we can achieve together. So, I say to all: go on, go on, go on.”
Mr. Curtis Richardson served in the Anguilla United Front’s Administration as Minister of Infrastructure, Communication Housing and Utilities during the period 2015 to 2020.
