AURORA WINS 2023 FUN DAY

Team Aurora Celebrating Victory

The Anguilla Amateur Athletics Federation (AAAF) hosted the annual Labour Day/Fun Day competition on Monday 1st May, 2023, at the James Ronald Webster’s Park.
Six (6) teams vied for the highly coveted title of Fun Day 2023 Champion.

At the end of a fun-filled day, Aurora emerged Champions with 194 points. Malliouhana placed second with 152 points, followed by Four Seasons with 149 points. Fourth place went to the Royal Anguilla Police Force with 131 points, Government of Anguilla followed closely behind in fifth with 130 points, and Health placed sixth with 129 points.
Other trophies were awarded for the Largest Team- Aurora, and Cheerleading – Aurora.
Round One of the Tug of War Competition saw Aurora and the Royal Anguilla Police Force pull with Aurora emerging the winner. Four Seasons and Malliouhana then pulled with Malliouhana winning and Health and Government pulling with Government winning.
In Round Two Malliouhana won over Government, with Aurora receiving a bye to the finals.
After a keenly contested best of three between Malliouhana and Aurora, Malliouhana emerged as the 2023 Tug-of-War Champions.
Other highlights included the Spelling Race, Four-legged race, Fill the Bottle, Bag Race and Men’s Night Out. The Shot Put Toss was a new addition and was won by the Royal Anguilla Police Force (both in the Female and Male categories).
For the sprint enthusiasts, the 4×100 metres Female Relay was won by Malliouhana and the 4×100 metres Male Relay by Four Seasons.
To climax the day, two Invitational Races were held – the 80 metres sprint for Females and the 100 metres for Males.

Tri-Tania Lowe won in the female segment and Jaden Laurent the male. They both received monetary prizes of US$100.00 sponsored by four members of the AAAF and the Acting Director of Sports, Ms. Katina Richardson.
