Phase One of the Aviation Masterplan relating to the enabling works of the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (CJLIA) is now complete. In driving forward Phase Two, the Government of Anguilla in partnership with the Governor’s Office is pleased to announce the release of the renderings of the CJLIA Cargo Facility.
The Cargo Facility has been designed by V Architectural Design working alongside Avia NG‘s Airport Consultant team and is currently at a 60% schematic design completion stage.
The Airport Cargo Facility will be re-located to the southern side of the CJLIA with construction scheduled to begin in [the] fall of 2023. This modern facility will enhance the customer experience. With the provision of space for HM Customs, Airport Security as well as cargo couriers, all inbound and outbound cargo will be processed in this one facility, ensuring a streamlined and high level of service for all customers.
The Cargo Facility construction works will be tendered this summer, with an expected completion date for construction of March 2024.
The Anguilla Economic Resilience Programme has secured US$8 M from the UK Government to support the delivery of Phase Two of the Aviation Masterplan, which in addition to the construction of the Cargo Facility, will include the design of the new Terminal Building and continued air and land side ground works.
The Hon. Minister of Infrastructure Mr. Haydn Hughes remarked: “Delivering on the promise to redevelop the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport, we have completed Phase One and are now fully focused on the delivery of Phase Two which is the Cargo Facility and the new Terminal Building. As we continue to demonstrate our commitment to the development of the ports of entry, we would also like to reaffirm our commitment to the tourism industry, as the airport re-development will positively impact our tourism sector.”
The Hon. Premier, Dr. Ellis Webster remarked: “We would like to continue to thank the UKG for their continued commitment to the development of Anguilla. The official release of this Cargo facility design marks the beginning of Phase Two of the re-development of the Airport, which is being funded by the UKG and the Government of Anguilla. Anguilla has a bright economic future and this administration is committed to ensuring prosperity for the people of this great country.”
H.E. the Governor Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam remarked: “Recognising the transformational impact of the airport’s redevelopment for Anguilla’s economic growth, I am pleased that our excellence in partnership working has enabled the successful completion of Phase One and continues to drive delivery of the Aviation Masterplan.”
