Three athletes left the island on Wednesday 5th April, 2023, for The Bahamas to participate in this year’s CARIFTA games there carded to begin on Friday 7th April, 2023.
The three athletes are Mr. Terrone Webster who will be participating in the 100 meter and 200-meter dash; Ms. Samaria Hodge who will be also taking part in the 100 meter and 200-meter races; and Keante Brooks who will represent Anguilla in the high jump.
They were accompanied by Senior Coach, Alexis Ryan and Team Manager, Rodi Richardson.
When asked what he thought his chances were for bringing home gold, Coach Ryan said: “Well, I think our chances are great. We have a team with a great level of experience. Terrone was a finalist at the 2017 CARIFTA games. At that time, he was a junior, but now he is at a senior level. I think he is in good standing to win big. Mr. Brooks has done well in the past in high jump, and Ms. Hodge is one of our premier sprinters. So, I think we have some great potential.”
Team Manager, Rodi Richardson, said: “We are very confident in this team. For this past School’s Sports Day and throughout the track season they have performed well, and I know they are going to do some amazing things at CARIFTA this year.”
