The Gender Development Coordinator (GDC) Ms. Kemoloy Murphy attended a four-day regional training workshop on Gender Mainstreaming in End-to-End Early Warning System for Flood Forecasting (E2E-EWS –FF) and Integrated Flood Risk Management (IFRM). The workshop funded by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) project, included representatives from gender bureaus, disaster management and meteorological services across the Eastern Caribbean. Participants engaged in lively discussions, focus groups and sharing of best practices against the backdrop of strengthening the capacities of national and regional stakeholders in the integration of gender in the End-to-End Early Warning System for Flood Forecasting and Integrated Flood Risk Management. Further participants shared approaches, tools and methods of gender mainstreaming in planning, programming, budgeting and monitoring-evaluation processes in integrated flood risk management.

Following the four days of training, participants presented an action plan for their respective department, country and the region detailing how they will further mainstream gender in IFRM as well as a post-training roadmap and recommendations for decision-makers. The action plan and roadmap developed by Ms. Murphy and Mr. Jennings will be shared with the relevant departments/agencies for feedback and further development.
