Prinicipal and Student awardees with family members of the late Tr. Ursula Harrigan

On Tuesday morning, July 5, 2022, parents, friends and well-wishers gathered with the principal, teachers, staff and students of the Morris Vanterpool Primary School to celebrate the academic achievement of those students whose performance for the academic year placed them on the prestigious Principal’s List and Deputy Principal’s List.

The order of the programme for the Teacher Ursula Harrigan Award Ceremony included welcome remarks by teacher Malica Smith Connor, prayer by Pastor David Christmas, congratulatory remarks by Michael Caragliano, music in song by the Grade Six class and a special vote of thanks by Reynath Lico, Student Council President.

Principal Shauna Connor, along with class teachers and Ms. Lucielle Augustus, presented the certificates and awards to this year’s honourees. Twenty-five students from Grades 1-5 earned a place on the Principal’s List and forty-six students from Grades 1-6 earned a place on the Deputy Principal’s List. Sixty-two students from Kindergarten through Grade Six were awarded for achieving certain benchmarks in Reading.
During her career of well over forty years, Tr Ursula Harrigan was unparalleled in loyalty, dedication, and commitment to teaching and to the wellbeing of her students. She guided hundreds of students, and young teachers, to walk in the paths of their most excellent versions, while she remained humble, approachable, and teachable. Tr Ursula spent her entire superlative teaching career at the East End/Morris Vanterpool Primary School, always personifying the true meaning of what it is to be a servant leader.
