THE VALLEY – Anguilla is expected to undertake the enumeration phase of the Anguilla Population and Housing (AP&H) Census 2022 beginning in June 2022. Census Day in Anguilla is Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Field officers – enumerators will be out on June 15, 2022 to commence the data collection phase of the AP&H Census 2022. All residents according to the census definition; all persons living on Anguilla for six (6) months or more or intending to do so, will be asked questions when a field officer – enumerator visits their dwelling.

In previous Anguilla censuses, Census Day was usually scheduled in early May, specifically to ensure that the census enumeration (data collection) would be most successful. This allowed the field officers – enumerators to have a collection period which attempted to avoid the ‘peak’ of the hurricane season in Anguilla, which could potentially alter results regarding housing and individual circumstances.

Additionally, this chosen period capitalized on the fact that most persons were at their usual residence, therefore making it easy to conduct the enumeration exercise.

Given the postponement of the AP&H Census 2022 from May 2022 to June 2022, the enumeration phase has now moved closer into the period where residents of Anguilla usually travel off island and the possibility of tropical storm activity is higher.

However, in an effort to provide all residents with the opportunity to participate in the enumeration phase, the Anguilla Statistics Department is requesting all residents (persons who usually reside in Anguilla) who will be travelling over this period to register by providing the Anguilla Statistics Department with some information prior to your departure. We would appreciate if this is done as soon as possible.

Please do so by contacting the Anguilla Statistics Department and indicating your interest in the ‘Resident Register’.

More information on the Anguilla Population and Housing Census 2022 can be obtained by contacting the Anguilla Statistics Department on 497-5731 or e-mail the Anguilla Statistics Department statistics@gov.ai
