The Valley, Anguilla – The Ministry of Finance informs the general public that Government has removed the Excise Tax on gasoline imports for the period of six months in this first instance.

The Excise Tax on gasoline has been at a rate of EC$0.35 per litre. This amounts to an expected reduction of EC$1.59 per gallon at the pumps.

It is expected that residents will see this reduction at stations across the island as early as Thursday, 28th April 2022. The removal of the Excise Tax is applicable to all gasoline imports and as such patrons should see a reduction in prices across all service stations.

The Ministry of Finance has been liaising with all fuel suppliers to ensure the tax savings are fully passed on to the consumers. A maximum price order will be established in short order for retail gasoline sales for the purposes of regulating the availability of gasoline at a fair price.

The Honourable Premier and Minister of Finance, Ellis L. Webster, MD. commented, “My Administration and the hard working civil servants are not only mindful of the pressing challenges being faced by the community but we are experiencing them as well. We are right there with the people of Anguilla. We are in this together. The relief and reform that we seek to bring about takes some time to get it done right. While we are focused on stopping the bleeding we are also mindful that we have to take the steps necessary to ensure that we can respond to future shocks. We thank all the fuel suppliers and stakeholders for their continued commitment to the people of Anguilla and for serving us all in a responsible manner.”
