The Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School Campus B courtyard was bursting with excitement this Thursday 26th May, as students and teachers gathered to celebrate their annual Heritage Fest. Despite not being able to host the cultural event for the past two years, this year’s theme: ‘Survive and Thrive, We are 55’ celebrates the resiliency of Anguillian people. The event was well-attended and a resounding success.

After a general assembly, the day was packed with both fun-filled and educational rooms and activities. There were heritage rooms where students could view memorabilia from Anguillian culture, listen to stories and watch Anguilla in the movies. The boat room in particular, featured the popular Warspite model built by Ernest Connor of Blowing Point.

Popular Anguillian food and drinks were on sale and students could participate in old- time cooking and the making of sugar cake and local soup. For the excitement and thrill-seekers, a photo booth, domino heat room and various traditional yard games ignited a competitive and fun atmosphere.
The management and staff of ALHCS wishes to thank all persons who helped to make Heritage Fest 2022 a success. Thanks to the students who attended and the parents who ensured they were present. The school hopes that its commitment to these efforts will continue to provide opportunities for students and the community to develop an appreciation and love for Anguilla and Anguillian culture.
