The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities, Housing and Tourism (MICUHT), is pleased to announce that the redeveloped Valley Main Road will be open for public use beginning Monday, 11th April 2022. The Ministry thanks the businesses affected by the road closure, and the community ,for their patience during the construction phase. Motorists, and pedestrians alike, are also acknowledged for their patience with the diversions and disruptions to the regular flow of traffic which was necessary to get this done. All are encouraged to exercise vigilance, and road user etiquette, especially during the first couple weeks after opening when persons are familiarising themselves.
The Honourable Minister MICUHT, Mr. Haydn Hughes, commented on the opening of The Valley Main Road stating, “I believe at this point, it goes without saying ,that I am excited about what we have accomplished here as a country and a first-time administration. Everyone involved from the FCDO, Governor’s Office, Ministry of Finance, MICUHT, Engineers, Contractors, Businesses and the general community, as stakeholders, will see and feel the immediate benefit that this project will bring. We are progressing in the right direction. The many areas of development, issues and concerns, which have been left unaddressed for many years, will get the attention needed and the outcomes will be a constant reminder that change couldn’t wait.”
Sharing on this historic accomplishment, The Honourable Premier, Ellis L. Webster, MD, stated: “Vision, ingenuity, hard work and an unwavering commitment to improve the lives of all Anguillians, continue to be the driving force behind what we do as an administration. I am thankful to the United Kingdom Government – for not only the funding but the confidence shown in our Ministry of Infrastructure, local engineers and contractors who rewarded that trust with an excellent job. There is no denying that we are taking every step necessary to bring about positive and tangible change in many areas of Government which have lapsed over the years. The people of Anguilla have entrusted us with their futures and although the times continue to present many challenges, I am confident that, by working together, this team will continue to make the best of what is presented before us. The redevelopment of The Valley Main Road will be a symbol of our perseverance, as a people, to leave a better life for generations to come.”
