Queen Elizabeth II – the longest-reigning British monarch in history and the longest-serving female monarch in the world – spent her 96th birthday at her beloved late husband’s home in Sandringham on Thursday, April 21.
It is reported that the Queen travelled to her Norfolk estate by helicopter to spend a week at the “modest home” which was modernised by her husband, the late Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburg. The Royals went there quite often to spend quiet time away from the spotlight as a relatively ordinary married couple.
She was visited at the Sandringham farm house by family and friends to celebrate her birthday in a typically low-key way. Although, family members and other charity organisations with which she had been involved, took the opportunity to extend warm tributes to her.
A photograph has been released to mark the birthday, showing the Queen with two ponies reflecting her lifelong interest in horses.
The Queen’s birthday will be officially celebrated in Anguilla with much pomp and fanfare on Monday, June 13, 2022.
