David William Rogers was born in Bad Cox, Anguilla, on Good Friday, April 6th, 1928, to his parents, Mary Alberta Rogers and Joseph William Rogers. He is the last of four (4) children.
Life became very challenging for him and his siblings when their parents died in the summer of 1940, just seventeen (17) days apart. Little David was only twelve (12) years old then. Being orphaned, he was forced to drop out of school and find work to sustain himself.
During the following sixteen (16) years, he migrated to countries like St. Maarten, St Kitts, and St. Thomas USVI, where he found employment, before returning to Anguilla in 1956, where he had a life changing encounter: he surrendered his life to God.
As a new convert, David worshipped and served with the saints of the Church of God of Prophecy and was soon appointed to pastor his first congregation in Island Harbour, Anguilla.
In 1959, he was appointed to pastor a congregation in Dominica. During that said year, he proposed to his lovely, God-fearing pen-pal, Doreen Olivia Carty, who was living in St. Thomas USVI, at the time. After five months of courtship, they were joined in holy matrimony in Anguilla, on Thursday 17th, December 1959. In the ensuing year, the union produced four (4) sons and three (3) daughters in this order: Donald, Davis, David, Deborah, Daniel, Dorcas and Diane.
During the 1960s and beyond Pastor Rogers, along with his young wife, laboured in ministry on the islands of Dominica, Anegada, Anguilla, St Maarten, and Tortola BVI, in the capacity of Pastor, Evangelist and District Overseer. He was promoted to the office of Bishop in the late 1970s. Bishop Rogers retired from active ministry in the late 1990s.
After fifty-nine (59) loving years of marriage, Bishop Rogers mournfully said farewell to his dear wife in January 2019, having the glorious hope that they will reunite one day in Heaven. He is the proud father of seven (7) children, one (1) adopted daughter, and has twenty-six (26) grandchildren, eight (8) great-grandchildren and numerous spiritual children.
Bishop Rogers, today, on this your ninety-fourth (94th) birthday celebration, we salute you as a loving faithful father, Honourary Soldier of the Cross, and a humble servant of Christ. Happy Birthday, Bishop!
May the favour of God continually follow you, and may all who come behind you find you faithful.
WE LOVE YOU DADDIE!
