The Department of Youth & Culture (DYC) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2022 staging of the Anguilla Non-fiction Literary Competition. The Competition, sponsored by Mr. James Lewis, a returning visitor to Anguilla, seeks to capture the interest of the people of Anguilla. The main objective of the competition is to encourage the youth and adult population to increase their interest and skill in non-fiction writing especially with work dedicated to Anguilla. The competition will focus solely on non-fiction work and may include, but is not limited to, forms such as essay, op-ed, memoir, biography and journalism. Fiction genres, story-telling, poetry and folklore are not eligible. The competition is managed by the Anguilla Non-fiction Literary Competition Committee and the Culture and Arts Division of the DYC.
The competition is divided in three categories with prizes totalling XCD 6,700.00. The categories and their respective prizes are highlighted as follows:
