On Tuesday, 8th February 2022, the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School (ALHCS), in partnership with the Anguilla Youth Business Foundation (AYBF) hosted the third annual Business Idea Basket Competition (BIB) at the Rodney McArthur Rey Auditorium. The Anguilla Youth Business Foundation being the prime sponsor, invested approximately EC$16,000 in prizes. During the competition, a 3-year Partnership Agreement was signed between the Anguilla Youth Business Foundation and the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School Business Idea Basket (BIB) Initiative. Within the context of this Agreement, the ALHCS will achieve its strategic goals by delivering a well organised engaging event with ALHCS Business Students and their ideas as the main focus.
The ALHCS Business Idea Basket Initiative seeks to foster, promote and develop, youthful business creativity among ALHCS students & innovation applicable to real life issues in Anguilla. This showcase of students’ ideas is aimed at giving our youth a voice on national matters, building a culture of entrepreneurship and informing and triggering national interest and investments.
Seven teams competed in this year’s Business Idea Basket: Eco Engineering, ALC Transportation, Sunshine Seaways, Green Buzz, The Shakers, AXA A-Makers and Eco-AXA. The Anguilla Youth Business Foundation will be responsible for the funding of all prizes, as well as Provide technical support for institutional strengthening in the area of Youth Entrepreneurship Development and Capacity Building.
The Anguilla Youth Business Foundation (AYBF) is a business service organisation established by the Department of Youth and Culture (DYC) and the Anguilla National Youth Council (ANYC), under the Anguilla Foundation Act, to provide business development and support services to young people residing in Anguilla.
The AYBF flagship programme – the Anguilla GET SET Entrepreneurial Programme – targets young persons between the ages of 18- 35. The Programme offers business development training, business plan development services, business mentorship and start-up funding.
