The Ministry of Health advises that all 12-17 years olds will now be eligible to receive a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. In accordance with the UK Guidance, all 12-17 year olds will be offered a second dose 12 weeks following their first dose. Therefore, children who have received their first dose in the 2nd week of November 2021 (or earlier) are encouraged to walkin to the Welches Polyclinic starting from Wednesday February 2nd from 9am-12pm and 1:30-3:45pm and continuing throughout the weekly scheduled vaccination clinics.
Further, the Ministry reminds the general public that booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine are available to persons 16 years and older who received their second dose more than 3 months ago. Booster doses are also available to clinically vulnerable 12-15 year olds who received their second dose more than 3 months ago. Underlying conditions that increase clinical vulnerability include chronic respiratory diseases such as poorly-controlled asthma; congenital heart disease; liver and kidney disease; diabetes; immunosuppression and chronic neurological diseases such as stroke, cerebral palsy epilepsy and downs syndrome.
Persons should bring their vaccination paper card and an ID document when presenting for their 2nd dose.
Vaccination remains a critical tool towards reducing the risk of severe outcomes e.g. hospitalizations and deaths in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. All residents of Anguilla are encouraged to get vaccinated when eligible.
