On the occasion of its 50th Anniversary celebration, and its annual Police Week observance, the Royal Anguilla Police Force has been graced with a special cash contribution from Aurora Anguilla Resort.
The presentation was jointly made on Monday, 24th January, by the Managing Director, Mr. Simon Fricker; the Public Relations Officer of the Aurora Brand Ambassador Committee, Mr. Bryan Corbett; and the Chairperson of the Aurora Brand Ambassador Committee, Mr. Chris Richardson.
Mr. Richardson expressed his appreciation ofthe work of the police force in the community. He said: “We are pleased to be partnering with the Royal Anguilla Police Force, as they serve and protect the people of our communities.
“We congratulate them on their 50-year anniversary, and we are delighted to be a Platinum sponsor for their Police Week activities. We trust that this donation of US$2,400 would serve well in helping to defray the cost of their annual events, and we look forward to supporting our police force in the future.”
In accepting the gift on behalf of the Royal Anguilla Police Force, Inspector Randolph Yearwood, who is the Chairman of the Police Week Committee, said: “We had been thinking of featuring a Police Appreciation Day during our Police Week activities, but it had never really come to fruition. After giving it much thought, our Committee sent out request to the business community, seeking donations.
“The day after we sent out those requests, Mr. Chris Richardson of Aurora called us to say that the resort would be quite pleased to support the cause of Police Appreciation Day. That is something which we really admire and appreciate. It shows that there is a respectable working relationship between the police and the business community.
“Many times the work of officers goes unnoted. We normally get a whole lot of criticism, but, we are so thankful that Aurora stepped up to the plate in being a Platinum sponsor with this sizable contribution for our officers’ Appreciation Day.”
“Thanks again to Aurora, as well as to the other members of the business community who would have contributed to this worthy cause,” Mr. Yearwood said.
Aurora’s donation of US$2,400 would be used towards the financing of a special dinner for Police Appreciation Day which is scheduled to be featured as part of the RAPF Police Week and 50th Anniversary celebrations.
