Anguillian Youth Entrepreneur, O’shari Tomlinson, has returned home this week after graduating with honours from the University of Derby, earning himself a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
26 year-old O’shari, the CEO and founder of locally owned apparel brand Young Hustlers New Generation (YHNG), walked the stage on 10th November 2021 following the completion of his degree, for which he focused on Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.
Growing up in Anguilla, O’shari founded YHNG in 2013 and has continued to successfully manage this business with his colleagues – a group of well-intended young men from throughout the community – ever since. The business operates under the mantra “Togetherness by any means necessary”, focusing on youth empowerment through fundraisers, community service activities, events, promotions and professional sponsorships.
O’shari left Anguilla in 2016 to pursue a course at Leicester College, on Access to Higher Education (Engineering). His studies at the University of Derby then began in September 2017, all while balancing higher learning and entrepreneurship.
O’shari, through YHNG, was nationally awarded Outstanding Youth in Leadership by the Department of Youth and Culture in 2020. Young Hustlers New Generation was awarded the Community Service Award, Outstanding Youth in Entrepreneurship Award – and for being a finalist for the Friend of the Youth Award.
O’shari, the son of Fitzroy ‘Briggy’ and Carla Tomlinson of The Farrington, thanks God for his guidance and blessings through his journey, and is grateful to his parents, family and friends for their assistance.
Considering himself a creative, O’shari designs posters, clothing, banners, logos and signs – and also produces musical beats in his spare time.
Following his graduation, O’shari returned home to Anguilla and is currently employed as the Building/Accommodations Supervisor in the Engineering Department at Four Seasons Resort and Residences.
