Kreative Communications Network (KCN) has been the hallmark of local TV production in Anguilla for some 25 years. In 1997, KCN’s founder and CEO, Mr. Carlton Pickering, began production of an informative nightly program dubbed Anguilla Diary Magazine (ADM), on the All Island Cable TV network.
Prior to this, he ran the ADM feature on Channel 9, which was then under the management of radio personality, Victor “Mello-Cello” Nickeo. ADM was a much loved program, well appreciated, and valued highly by locals and visitors alike.
Over the years, Anguilla Diary Magazine encountered some challenging hurdles and, as a result, it was not aired for approximately eight years. But on Tuesday, November 30th, at Roy’s Bayside Grill in Sandy Ground, Mr. Pickering held a ceremonial meeting to express his resolve for the re-launch of the nightly feature.
The nightly anchor for Anguilla Diary Magazine was Ms. Rosanna Browne-Harrigan, whom Mr. Pickering appropriately described as the “face of ADM”. He reflected: “Throughout all the years, Rosanna was the person that stood with ADM, and she is still here, ready to resume her voluntary post as anchor woman of what had become Anguilla’s most informative TV programme…Today, we have come to make a re-launch of ADM.
Rosanna gave a brief overview of Anguilla Diary Magazine: “Twenty-five years ago,” she said, “KCN opened its doors to television programming in Anguilla with its flagship programme, Anguilla Diary Magazine. It is rather ironic that we are re-launching this evening in Sandy Ground, because here is where Anguilla Diary Magazine was born, some twenty-five years ago. I still remember the many afternoons when I would run down Chapel Hill, since I did not have a vehicle, and I would be just in time to do the nightly productions of Anguilla Diary.
“Anguilla Diary Magazine started as a bulletin board kind of programme. We did not do news, but we featured community bulletins and important notices of upcoming events and activities. We have endured a hiatus of almost a decade, but twenty-five years later, we are now re-launching Anguilla Diary Magazine, rebranded.
“Now it is going to be an extended programme. As we revive our production, we will not only be doing bulletin boards, but we will also provide many other interesting TV production features. We will be carrying activities and events in the areas of education, sports, culture, the arts, and business.
“Persons in the business community are encouraged to take advantage of our advertising offers,” Rosanna noted. “You can come on board as supporting sponsors of various segments of our program. So I invite you and encourage you to please partner with us as we move forward for the next twenty-five years and beyond.”
Present at the re-launch ceremony was the Honourable Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Kyle Hodge. In light of Mr. Pickering and Rosanna’s resilience and courage, he alluded to a quote by the basketball legend, Michael Jordan, which goes: “Some people want it to happen; some wish it could happen; but others make it happen.”
He continued: “Tonight we are here to witness it happening as KCN’s Mr. Pickering and Rosanna activate the re-launch of the Anguilla Diary Magazine. It is a TV production program that raises the bar to another level. One great thing about ADM is that it offers opportunities on TV for the advertising and promoting of products and services for all businesses and NGOs in Anguilla.
“This re-launch, to me, is a welcomed option for businesses as well as government. Organizations from a cross-section of Anguilla can take advantage of the offerings of this great program. Now businesses are not just limited to Facebook ads, ‘cause there is a new kid on the block for a second time around, bigger and better than before. Locals and visitors alike can now lay back on their couches or their beds and enjoy the features of the Anguilla Diary Magazine.
“No venture is an easy one,” Minister Hodge noted. “So this evening, for this soft launch, I wish to congratulate Mr. Pickering, Rosanna and KCN for making this bold step towards television production in Anguilla once again.
“On behalf of the Government of Anguilla, and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, we salute you and we celebrate you on this momentous occasion. I look forward not only to viewing Channel 4’s productions, but also to being on set to lend my voice and my face when it is necessary. Thank you!”
On Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, Anguilla Diary Magazine will be aired on Digicel’s Cable Network, on Channel 4, at 8:00 p.m. As of that date, it will continue to be aired every night except on weekends, and its daily schedule will be Monday to Friday, at 8:00 p.m.
