If Mr. Don Mitchell intended to trigger a heart attack in Philip Gumbs by his opening statements in last week’s article he almost succeeded! Seriously, though, I must commend him for being so absolutely honest in admitting that he was totally wrong in his entrenched, vigorously and frequently stated, belief that “the European Convention on Human Rights obligates the UK government to force us to make gay marriage compulsory in all participating States – and their Dependencies”. I do respect him for that.
However, unfortunately, he remained determinedly seat belted in the one engine plane, earnestly singing its praises. With no regret I must announce to him, and all other deluded passengers, that the one engine plane has crashed. Ti mash up.
His belated realisation of the blatant lie stated by the entire UK Team in November, 2019, right here on Anguilla opens up a Pandora’s box. These highly revered officials from the FCO included Mr Adam Pile (Head of Caribbean and Southern Oceans Department), Mr Ian Hendry (Constitutional Adviser to the FCO), Mr Greg Reisman (Assistant Legal Adviser) and Ms Kirstie Nash (Desk Officer for Anguilla).
Pandora’s box…Why did they lie? Was it that they had contempt for us because they believed the saying, “If you want to hide something from black people put it in a book”? Or was it a subconscious, suppressed awareness that this assertion, this lie, was the only engine powerful enough to make the “gay marriage” plane fly in Anguilla and other BOTs?
Let’s examine the other “engines” that many passengers naively believe propel this gay so-called marriage aircraft. One supposed engine is science. “Stop hating on people! Just like you were born straight they were born gay!” Fact check: “A genetic analysis of almost half a million people has concluded there is no single “gay gene. The study, published in Science, June, 2019… scanned the genomes – the entire genetic make-up – of 409,000 people signed up to the UK Biobank project, and 68,500 registered with the genetics company 23andMe… There is no single gay gene, and a genetic test for if you’re going to have a same-sex relationship is not going to work.” “It’s effectively impossible to predict an individual’s sexual behaviour from their genome.” David Curtis, honourary professor at the UCL Genetics Institute, University College London, said: “This study clearly shows that there is no such thing as a ‘gay gene’…There is no genetic variant in the population which has any substantial effect on sexual orientation.” BBC 29 August, 2019. Even prominent lesbian activists, like Dr Lisa Diamond, acknowledge this fact. Oh dear. Dat engine gone.
Another imaginary engine is the “human rights” argument. Lgbtq activists and supporters attempt to equate gay rights with black civil rights. But this illogical reasoning is pronounced dead on arrival by the fact that every atom of science declares that being black is genetic, just as being white or Asian is genetic. No debate or even discussion on that. But science coldly says that being gay is not genetic. If so, identical twins would both be gay. But it doesn’t happen. So how does gay so-called marriage become a human right? Another imaginary engine.
This brings us to yet another engine, a humongous one all decorated with whipped cream – LOVE! Desire! “Everyone has the right to love and the right to marry whoever they love! It’s a fundamental human right! “Love is equal!” “Love wins!”. But if we use this sugar-coated argument then any two persons who claim to love each other can marry – like the fact that since the early 2000’s two half-brothers can marry each other in Sweden. And two half-sisters can too! It’s called “being progressive”, “tolerant”, “open-minded”. And three people can “marry” each other as in the case of Víctor Hugo Prada, John Alejandro Rodríguez, and Manuel José Bermúdez — an actor, sports instructor, and journalist, respectively — who signed papers in a notary office on June 3, 2015, in what reports called the first polyamorous marriage in Colombia. So love and marriage have moved on from couples to throuples. And because love is a “human right” twenty people can have civil union status (which is functionally equivalent to marriage) in Sommerville, Massachusetts, since June, 2020. Is anybody getting nauseated?
Anybody on Anguilla who passionately defends the right for two men or two women to marry needs to honestly and publicly state if they support half-brothers marrying each other (incestuous “marriage”), a father marrying his daughter, and five or fifteen people marrying each other (polyamorous “marriage”). It is impossible to give lesbians and gays the right to “marry” and refuse the same right to any other type of “marriage”. The “Love is equal”, “Love is love” argument is sheer ignorance and an excuse for perversion.
Next week, the Lord willing, I will address the disturbing disease reality of anal penetration, and the hypocrisy of the British government’s claims to be demanding gay so-called marriage because it is very committed to and passionate about championing human rights.
Mr. Don Mitchell chose to clinch his arguments by quoting the words of US Supreme Court Justice Kennedy, obviously impressed by “his learning and elegant language”. Oh, when will we ever learn? The 2019 delegation from our Mother Country, and the distinguished Members of Parliament, are all learned and elegant in their language, but that has absolutely nothing to do with truth nor integrity. It is utterly irrelevant. This reliance on eloquence, this blissful reverence and worship of personas and prominence is another imaginary engine.
Ah, but Pastor Gumbs, the gay marriage airplane is flying very high and fast in the UK, Europe and the US! True. But the brutal enslavement of Africans also flew high and fast in Great Britain, Europe and the US. It was the “common sense,” “human rights”, “profitable”, “progressive” thing to do. Might does not make it right. Neither does popularity.
We, the people of Anguilla, reiterate our rooted opposition to the legalisation of gay so-called marriage because we are compelled by the truth and integrity of God’s word, His unchanging truth that is resoundingly supported by science and sound reason.
Breaking news!!! The one engine plane has crashed! Neither painting it passionately, perfuming it profusely, praising it persistently, nor pleading for it pathetically, will keep it in the air. It done crash. Ti mash up.
