The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank climaxed its Financial Information Month activities in Anguilla with two presentations at its Agency Office at Rock Farm on Monday, November 1.
The ECCB’s Anguilla Representative, Mrs. Shirmaine Lynch-Harrigan, told the gathering: “Every October we celebrate Financial Information Month together with our other financial institutions, and other partners, such as commercial banks, insurance companies and some other non- financial institutions. We also have most of the media, the Education Department and so on. Our theme is: ‘Financial Empowerment through Education.’ While we engaged and educated the public, throughout the year, we highlighted October to do that extra push.”
She stated that this year the area of focus was on “Innovation in the Face of Financial Adversity: Respond, Recover and Rise.” Mrs. Lynch-Harrigan continued: “We have two organisations with us. We have representatives from the Anguilla Cancer Society and the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church –the Community Outreach aspect.”

The representatives of the SDA Church were: Ms. Susan Rodney, Mr. Othlyn Vanterpool and Mrs. Patricia Payne-Webster; and from the Anguilla Cancer Society were: its President, Mrs. Jennifer Gumbs; Ms. Alice Warrington and Ms. Angella Bramwell. They all reported on the various community activities in which their organisations are involved.
Mrs. Lynch-Harrigan explained the various activities which the ECCB organised for Financial Information Month – and the precautions it took to avoid COVID-19 by limiting a number of the usual public events. She reported that, this year, there were five partners with the ECCB and they were able, through the media, to allow the public to know what was happening. She was happy that this year the ECCB was able to partner with the Anguilla Cancer Society, and the Community Service arm of the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Both organisations were the recipients of financial contributions from the ECCB in appreciation of their work. “That’s why you are both here, and we are very pleased to have you,” Mrs. Lynch-Harrigan told the representatives of the two groups.
