Sir William Alexander Smith

The Boys’ Brigade, a youth, international, interdenominational Christian Organisation for boys, which was founded on October 4th, 1883 by Sir Williams Alexander Smith, will be observing Founder’s Day on Wednesday October 27th, 2021. The Founder was born on October 27th, 1854, and therefore this day is the day which the organisation celebrates as “Founder’s Day.” Despite this distinction, countries throughout the world celebrate the occasion of the founding throughout the month of October – or in some instances during a week in the month.

The Boys’ Brigade Eastern & Southern Caribbean Regional Fellowship observed the occasion on Sunday October 24th with a zoom service. Islands that have active companies that took part in this service are Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent, Guyana, Anguilla, Antigua, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, Tortola, French St. Martin, and Dutch Sint Maarten.
On Sunday July 25th, 2021, election was held for the Executive body of the Region. During the service held on Sunday October 24th, the Executive body official induction was held. The Executive consists of:

1. Regional Coordinator: Captain James Gumbs from Dutch St. Maarten
2. Deputy Regional Coordinator: Captain Khareem Perry from Trinidad

4. Regional Treasure: Captain Aaron Napier from Trinidad

5. Regional Training Officer: Lieutenant Jefferson Ford from St. Kitts

6. Regional Public Relation Officer: Lieutenant Vikell Douglas-Edwards from St. Kitts

7. Zone 1 Coordinator: Lieutenant Sheridon Tobias from Tobago

8. Zone 2 Coordinator: Captain Barry Williams from Montserrat.

This board will serve for a period of two years.

During this service there were other members of the Boys’ Brigade from the Western Regional Fellowship, and Australia. Parents and friends were also in attendance.

During this time of the COVID pandemic, the organisation throughout the world continues to meet in accordance with guidelines set by the government of each country respectively. Companies who are unable to meet physically are meeting online and there are some companies who are not able to meet currently.

As we celebrate this milestone, 138 years of the founding of this auspicious organization, we give God thanks for the leadership, membership, and support of the organisation over the years.

Thank you to all Officers, members and supporters of Boys’ Brigade, locally and internationally.
