Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club has provided financial assistance for one of our community awards, under the Anguilla Enhancement Project which involves beautifying and conserving village areas of the island.
On Monday, this week, November 8, Managing Director of Aurora Resort, Mr. Simon A. Fricker, presented a cheque for US$500 to Ms. Meesha Richardson, Marketing Officer, with the Anguilla Enhancement Project. “It is all about enhancing village by village on the island,” she explained. “We have different awards such as the Cleanest Village; the Most Transformed Village; and this one, now being sponsored, is the Most Patriotic Village. We couldn’t do this award this year because we were pushed back by the shutdown.”
Ms. Richardson continued: “Every year, around Anguilla Day, each village does something – whether put up signs or decorations to win the most Patriotic Village Competition. So far, we have had island-wide clean-ups; a jollification day; a clean-up of wells, etc. We are doing all of this because Anguilla’s main industry is tourism. We have five-star hotels and we need to make Anguilla a five-star destination. Each village has a community group and each of them is responsible for enhancing their village. Rather than depend on Government, to do everything, we have to do something for ourselves.”
Commenting, Mr. Fricker said: “Aurora Resort and Golf Club is honoured to support this great initiative of this great organisation. It is good to enhance this beautiful island to be ready for this great upcoming tourist season; and to welcome our international guests.”
